KARE 11 Paris Olympics

Studio Set

In the KARE 11 Studios, I was tasked with designing a set that would serve as a backdrop for local coverage.

It needed to be something that that reflected the excitement and golden dazzle Paris and the Olympics had to offer. I played off of whatever NBC had available at the time and made the rest up along the way.

I laid out the 14” tall banners along with the looping graphics on the three screens in the corner studio.

The Eiffel Tower was a stroke of luck find by a producer on the project!

Assembly

The set was put together over the course of a week, balanced between newscasts, other work, and a weekend of crunch time. Thanks to my talented coworkers for helping me put the finishing touches on the set, we pushed it over the finish line just in time for the opening ceremonies.

Assembled with gold leaf mesh, 14-foot vinyl banners, gold fabric, blue velvet drapes, and lots and lots and lots of tape.

Pep Rallies for Paris

Branding

There were a number of Minnesotans headed to the Paris Olympics, and KARE’s talented producers had the idea to hold pep rallies for our Olympians on the days (well, early early mornings, Central Time) they would be competing.

I was tasked with creating a logo and branding for the event, along with social media and broadcast screens.

Olympics Luncheon

Local news is nothing without viewers—or sponsors. To chat with local companies and drum up interest in purchasing ad space during the Olympics, the sales team set up a magical afternoon of food and mingling.
