overviewWhen the Deputy Director of Marketing at Zando Projects asked me to make some ads for Bob Crawford, the bassist of The Avett Brothers, I was blown away — especially by the book’s cover art!
I couldn’t wait to animate it and create some enticing preorder merch.
Cover AnnouncementWith some light guidance and the original cover artwork, I animated this fun announcement and laid out the preceding slide, for use on Instagram posts and stories.
I also illustrated the red outlined background cover, traced from a photo of a government building in Washington D.C. I loved the pillars and thought they would work well to hint at the book’s historical nature and offset the painterly style on the cover.
Preorder merchFor the merch, Bob envisioned the digital painting on the cover rendered in an antique plate press style. I’ve long admired early Americana art and design, often collecting pieces through photography, so I felt pretty equipped to take that task head on.
After much trial and error with brushes purchased for Procreate, I was able to trace the cover. I created merch mockups for review (so crucial imo), which made creating the social media announcement for the merch a lot easier to put together!
Amazon A+ bannersI utilized my stylized tracing here as a fun background element while showcasing reviews.
Author letterHere again, Quincy makes an appearance! I laid this out this lovely letter to be mailed to chosen booksellers.
